The dreaded question. Every senior has heard it. I have heard it from teachers, parents, friends, friends parents, random people on the T, even a homeless man.
“Oh your graduating in May, whats your plan??”
ack.
Plan? I am suppose to have a plan? What does that mean?
It means that for the first time since I started Kindergarten at age 4 I am choosing my own path. I am literally choosing the direction my life is going to go. Coming to Suffolk in some ways was the first step in this process, but in reality I always knew I was going to college so it wasn’t like I was really choosing the direction of my life. Now its, “are you thinking grad school? are you moving? Staying in Boston? Job offers? Working as a Nanny?” I DON’T KNOW.
I am starting an internship in two weeks with a company called Teak Media, and I am extremely excited about it because its combining my love of writing with non-profit work. Sadly the company is very small and not looking for a redheaded addition, but maybe by a miracle I will make a connection to some famous publishing company who will hire me on the spot.
As of right now the plan is to start applying for jobs in Boston, New York, Chicago and San Francisco, and maybe Maine haha. I will then see what I get (if I get anything) and then start to eliminate by location. If I get nothing, maybe sublet for the summer, maybe move home and if I have no job by January of next year do a random move doing a random job just to have fun in another location.
Overall though my friends from home just want to do a road trip this summer. So that is always an option. hahaha Oh decisions. Meanwhile more reading and homework.
